The second album from James Vincent McMorrow, ahead of its official release – this Monday – Apple is now allowing iTunes Store customers to stream – “Post Tropical” – in its entirety, for FREE.

The Irish singer-songwriter didn’t begin his musical life until he was well into his teens. Initially a drummer, he was drawn to the harsher sounds of At the Drive-In, Refused, and Glassjaw, before mellowing at college where he discovered the more acoustic-oriented sounds of Sufjan Stevens and Band of Horses.

He picked up a guitar at 19 after hearing Donny Hathaway’s “I Love You More Than You Will Ever Know,” and began writing songs and digging into the music of the 1970s…

Unlike other iTunes “First Plays,” for which Apple has taken advantage of its recently launched U.S-only music streaming service – iTunes Radio, in order to deliver an exclusive ‘first listen’ of select albums it chooses – before they hit mainstream radio, Apple is instead offering the ability to listen to the exclusive stream directly from McMorrow’s artist bio page.

“Post Tropical” is available to pre-order on iTunes, for £7.99. Pre-ordering your copy of the album will see you charged immediately for the download of McMorrow’s latest single – “Cavalier” – and charged the remainder of the album’s stated price upon its release, on Monday.

Stream “Post Tropical” exclusively on iTunes.
