Autodesk has this week released a new desktop-class app for iPhone, which has been purpose built for graphic designers who are looking to take their vector work studio with them – whilst on the go.
Coined as a powerful and full-featured vector drawing and illustration app that sits right in your pocket, the simply named Graphic has “all of the tools you need to create everything from detailed technical illustrations to beautiful works of art,” Autodesk says.
Powerful OpenGL-optimized drawing will result in super-fast rendering of even the most complex of projects, claims Autodesk, as well as the app allowing for the multi-threading of drawings to ensure lag-free scrolling and zooming – as Graphic packs in a whole host of professional tools and features such as; a full-featured Bezier Pen tool for creating custom shapes, brush and pencil tools for fluid drawing and sketching, and multi-point path selection and editing, that will help you as the designer create intricate designs on the move quickly and easily.
Supporting the import of designs in either SVG, PDF, EPS, or Photoshop PSD format, Graphic also allows for the export of finished or mid-creation stage designs in SVG, PDF, PNG, PSD, JPEG, GIF, and TIFF. You can even copy selected objects as PNG, PDF, SVG, CSS properties, and Core Graphics code – and export icons, bitmap and vector images directly into Xcode xcasset folders.
In terms of specific integration with Adobe’s Photoshop suite, with Graphic you can:
– Import layered PSD files with vector paths and effects.
– Shape layers are imported as editable vector paths.
– Layer effects are imported as fully editable drop shadows, inner shadows, glows, etc.
– Export designs as layered PSD files.
Plus – if you need to leave mid stroke, you can continue working on your unfinished designs right where you left off when you get home, by opening up either Graphic for Mac ($24.99) or Graphic for iPad ($8.99).
Now fully optimised to take advantage of iOS 9’s split-screen multitasking and “Slide Over” features on the iPad, the just launched Graphic for iPhone is available to download today – for $2.99.
